BLUEGRASS finishes 2nd overall in Men and 4th Overall in State Championships

Let's start with the 4th place overall finish - that's all 9 & overs!  4th in the state - pretty impressive.  However, what's more impressive is that we were 2nd combined at the 12 & Under (9-12) this weekend.  Scores as follows:

Lakeside - 2851
Bluegrass - 765
Triton - 739
Cardinal - 723
WA - 714

And the biggest coup is that Bluegrass Marlins were 2nd OVERALL (9 & Overs) in the Men's Division.  Only Lakeside beat us in the men.

Bluegrass Marlins - 1224
Wildcat Aquatics - 1174

We beat WA, Lexington Dolphins, Triton Swimming, Cardinal, and all of the rest!!!  Our little team 2nd in the state in the men and 4th in the state overall!!!  Wow!!!!

Highlights of this weekend's meet besides the fact we were 2nd place overall at this meet were:

Clay Bisher

Natalie Hayes (2)
Alberto Zambrano (2)

We expected scoring from many of our swimmers, but the Top 16 finishes by Lily Iler and Natalie Hayes were huge drops!  These are always the fun ones to watch.

We had Top 8 relays in the 11-12 Boys, 11-12 Girls, and the 9-10 Boys.  Our 9-10 Girls scored in the Top 16 - so all of our relays were scorers - which was BIG.  Relays are such a critical part of a team's success and really the part of swimming that is TEAM - so we greatly appreciate the efforts made on the parents part to get your child to Louisville for those late afternoon relay swims.

As for our 8 & Unders, they had a great meet, too.  Many personal best times and great efforts.  Samuel Featherston medaled in the 25 back and 25 fly.  I have to say, though, that probably one of the biggest highlights of the ENTIRE meet (12 & under) was the 4th place finish of the 8 & U girls relay.  We were only beaten by 2 Lakeside relays and a Cardinal relay.  Most of these teams have a superstar or many 8 & unders on their team - but we just have a great group of new swimmers, who combined, are 4th in the state.  That was great!!!
